Another Finished Christmas Project

 

Here is the Autumn sampler that I had been stitching for some time - all finished over the Christmas holidays. The only thing I had to do over Christmas was the back stitching and it wasn't nearly as bad or time consuming as I thought so I wish I had done it earlier. Like the reindeer, it just needs washing and then taking for framing. Love the colours of this so much.

First of the Finished Holiday Projects

 

Over the holidays I had a finishing off few days, starting on the 29th with the reindeer cross-stitch. This  was really  lovely to stitch - no half stitches.  :-)
This cross-stitch was available as a kit or pattern, I opted for the pattern as I wasn't keen  on  the fabric  colour  in the kit.
So all  complete but I just need  to wash  it now and get it framed, hopefully   in plenty  of time  for  next Christmas.

What to sew on a really hot day

Christmas cross-stitch that's what. The autumn cross-stitch needs some unpicking to be done and hence a good light, so I have been stitching these reindeer rather than start something new.
Unpicking has been done now - hopefully all of it - so I will be back on that one next.

Almost There

I never meant to neglect my blog for so long but my camera broke and despite new batteries and a new memory card it still wouldn't work, sort of. So today I have bought a new one so here is one of the first photos taken with it.
A LOT of progress has been made with project since the last update, in fact it is almost finished and I hope to have it completed in the next week or two - should manage this now there is lots of tennis time coming up.

Rosehips

Here is the first part of the kit from the last post. Leaves and rosehips I think - not sure if the one on the left is wrong :-( Need to sit in a good light and try to work it out.

Holiday Sewing

This lovely cross-stitch kit was a birthday present from a very dear friend of mine. And autumn has some of my favourite colours - see previous post.
I started this kit back in the summer last year whilst I was on holiday, but it has been parked for a while now as I have been busy doing the temperature blanket (still waiting for the last yarn to arrive so I can finish the last 6 squares).

12th Night Sewing

This is the progress so far with Rudolph. It is a rather lovely kit to stitch despite having had to unpick it once. Obviously it was not done for Christmas, but I did my final stitching on 12th night and it has now been put away until around September when I will dig it out again and try to complete for next Christmas.

Secret Sewing

I bought this kit at Harrogate but was not able to post it here sooner as it was to be a Christmas card for my hubby. Typical in that I was working on it right up to the deadline - not necessarily my fault but I lost a couple of night's stitching when needlework evenings were rejigged and bad weather prevented us from going to our knitting group - yes I know it is sewing but the lovely ladies there don't mind that I sew more often than knit!

I sat in bed until around 1am Christmas morning sewing this until I could hear hubby coming upstairs and then managed to get it framed albeit not very well on Christmas morning when he had to pop out.

The cross-stitching was lovely to do but I can't really say the same for the back-stitching - half stitches and goodness knows what all over the place. 

Now Christmas is over I intend to frame it myself in just a small frame, nothing fancy, that we can bring out each year.

A new Christmas Project

Time to start a new project and it seems the right time of year to do something Christmassy. Already had to unpick the left-hand reindeer's saddle as it was in the wrong place :-( Good progress being made but think there are not enough weeks left to get it done for this year.

Rudolph and Friends

A purchase from the Harrogate K&S Show last year. It's that time of year when you can start Christmas projects surely.

Wash Day

Fairly rubbish picture but you get the idea - this is the Nile and the fox picture from ages ago soaking in the suds - another step nearer to being hung on the wall.

The Last Picture

At long last here is the last individual picture from the Nile - just got to wash and get it framed now. Although I thought it was done, I did find a few odd stitches missing in the river itself and one or two other bits but a small amount of time whilst watching tv soon rectified this.

Back to the Nile for another picture. This was one of the last ones to do and has been done for some time. I just need to  find a camera or batteries that will take decent photos so I can display some more pictures of the remaining bits.

Ta-Dah - Santa

I made this Father Christmas at a workshop at Buttons and Bows in Belper (sadly closed now) well over a year ago, but didn't quite finish it. I decided the sack was too plain and I wanted to put something on it like holly perhaps. In the end when I had some holiday from work to watch Wimbledon, I managed to finish it by adding a cross-stitch snowman to the sack - the sack fabric was ideal for doing cross-stitch.

Remember This

I became disillusioned with this cross-stitch after running low on lots of threads. Eventually after being on my to list for months, I finally got round to emailing the company for more thread. They responded really quickly and within a week I had the thread and have been able to continue. So here is another completed picture - not many to go now. In fact time to go and carry on with the next one.

Ta-dah!

At last a completed project after quite a few months. It turned out to be easier than expected although not sure if it needs something to cover the back but that would make it quite bulky. Need to find time to start another book then I can use it.

I am going to finish something!

This has been my holiday sewing -  a small kit my husband bought me on a trip to a National Trust place a few years ago - Devon I think. The only thing left to do is to finish it off - but every time I decide to finish it I realise needs pressing and the ironing board is never out. Well today since I took this photo I have pressed it, although from a different angle you can still see the folds.
Tickets are now booked for the K&S Show at Harrogate so I really did ought to finish a few projects before then and it is ages ago since I posted a finished item, so off to do just that :-)

New Project

Testing something out here - a poll for my lovely readers to vote on! I have wasted 40 minutes trying to do this and in the end it is really quite simple - provided it works.

Ok I have been given permission by Lady R to do a Christmas project provided I stick to it and it is completed by this Christmas - hmm suddenly it is less appealing.

Ok need to take photos of what is on offer and see which people prefer - of course I reserve the right to ignore the results!!!!! :-)

So here are the two projects - a cross-stitch at the top (you know who you are won't can't tell the difference!!) and a knitted garland. Sorry about the poor quality but taken in poor light with a flash. Now I have found the cross-stitch pattern it makes me think that I also have another pattern by the same designer - for Christmas - but no idea where that is!! Ok feel free to vote.

Almost there

All the cross-stitching is now finished I think on this - just got some back-stitching to do on the house and the butterflies. And then the tricky bit - sewing it onto the bag. Hopefully done by next week. Not sure what I am going to do at knitting and sewing groups this week as I need to find something simple - maybe that is a cause for starting something new????
