Remember This

I became disillusioned with this cross-stitch after running low on lots of threads. Eventually after being on my to list for months, I finally got round to emailing the company for more thread. They responded really quickly and within a week I had the thread and have been able to continue. So here is another completed picture - not many to go now. In fact time to go and carry on with the next one.

A Finished Project - well my bit

Here is my completed quilted square for the charity quilt. Thank you to J. for doing the dull bits like cutting out and pinning and all the help and teaching - I would not have known where to start - nothing like doing the hexagons of my youth. My 'homework' was handed in last week so my bit is complete but the hard work starts for the lady putting them all together I guess. Not sure if I will be doing any more - well certainly not for some time, until I have completed some of my other projects.

Quilting Challenge

The lady who owns the shop where we have our needlework group twice per month is organizing the making of a quilt to be raffled for charity. She has asked people to make up a quilting square and these will then be joined together to make a quilt.
As it is for a good cause I naturally volunteered even though it seemed a far cry from the patchwork hexagons I did many years ago. So at the last get together I choose my (simple) square and fabric. My friend J. offered to help me with it. Here is the pattern, instructions and fabric before I set off this afternoon to J's to make my square.
Back later with the completed square.

Shopping!!

Here is one of the purchases from the Knitting and Stitching Show in Harrogate last November. Still got to learn to crochet well enough to do it justice though :-(
Also made another purchase but I don't seem to have a photograph of it - probably because it had to be posted on to me.
Seem to be showing more posts of items purchased than actual projects in progress or completed - so off to continue knitting so that I can have something completed soon.

2015 Resolution Update

Well it is that time of year to check how I got on with last year's resolutions:-

 1.To complete a project each month.
 Well I made a good start but then fell by the wayside. I completed:-
  1. Jan - the house for Age UK;
  2. Feb - Advent socks and mitts;
  3. Mar - Slippers;
  4. June - Vintage 'Scarf;'
  5. Dec - Christmas Bauble.
2. To learn to crochet
 I did make a start on crochet and managed to do 3 rather dodgy squares.

3. To be able to crochet well enough to use the beautiful wool for that which it is intended.
Nothing done on this resolution as my progress with crochet is nowhere near good enough to make a good job with the beautiful wool :-(

Back later this week with this year's resolutions! :-)

Finished Christmas Project - well half

This project has been on the go for some years now and actually it was not that difficult - the tricky bit was getting the hole through the centre. It is one a two bauble kit I bought some years ago when I first went to a needlework show at the Harrogate Showground.  Well I finished this on New Year's Eve - what you do obviously when you get to a certain age and don't go to parties anymore!
The other one it says is easier as the fabric is thinner, well thinner than the velvet, but the section are curved so I need to sit down and read the instructions of how to get the shape correct - I am hoping this is actually scarier than doing the craft itself.
