Hello and welcome to my first blog post.
I have been thinking about blogging sometime but never seem to find the time, anyway here goes with the first and hopefully not the last post.
Last week I went to the Knitting and Stitching Show in Harrogate with some old and new friends. 7 of us spent a most enjoyable day browsing and purchasing many lovely items in amongst tea and cake breaks.
I was very good this year and resisted the temptation to indulge my addiction to cross-stitch - helped by a voice in my ear saying "You don't need any sewing kits" - thank you to one of my friends :-)
Well the hours were ticking by and I didn't have long left before we were all heading off for a meal, and one project was not going to keep me going. Some friends had already purcashed from the Woolie Batt but we couldn't find them anywhere on the information, but we did happen to stumble across a very lovely man who does their spinning I think, and he kindly took us all the way through the halls to find them - displayed as The Black Bat above their stand I believe - no wonder we couldn't find them. After browsing and chatting about their wools I eventually settled on the yarn and pattern shown in the picture - some New Maybeck Manx Loaghtan and Yorkshire Alpaca Blend to knit some fingerless long gloves.
So far I have knitted one glove and I am well on the way with the second - maybe I need to get a move on as it is forecast to be quite cold by the end of the week.
